Daniel William Marschke, 78, of Loganville, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, surrounded by his immediate family, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family, faith, community, and the outdoors. Born on March 1, 1948, in Fairbury, Daniel spent much of his early life between St. Joseph and Boulder Junction, where his parents operated a hunting and fishing lodge. Those experiences helped shape the passions that would remain central throughout his life — a deep love for nature, wildlife, hunting, and fishing. After attending Western Michigan University, Daniel served on active duty in the United States Army Reserves before beginning a successful career in the petroleum and automotive aftermarket industry. His work with Gulf Oil eventually brought his family to Georgia, where he continued his professional journey and later retired from Permatex. Retirement allowed Daniel to dedicate even more time to the things he treasured most: his family, his faith, and the outdoors. Known affectionately by his grandchildren as “Papa Fish,” he was a proud and devoted grandfather who rarely missed an opportunity to attend their activities, celebrate their accomplishments, and share stories about them with others. His love for hunting and fishing led him on adventures throughout North and South America, and he earned recognition as a Grand Master Waterfowl Hunter. For more than 35 years, he remained an active member of the Honey Creek Archery Club at the Monastery in Conyers, where he built lasting friendships and continued pursuing his lifelong passions. Faith also played a central role in Daniel’s life. He was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church since its early years and remained deeply committed to his church community throughout his life. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Guenther C. and Ilene G. Marschke, and by his daughter, Michele. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara; his children, Lisa (Scott) Rhudy and Todd (Kate) Marschke; his cherished grandchildren Jonathan, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Davis, and Owen; his brother Bruce (Marcy) Marschke; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will continue to carry his memory forward. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 5, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, with a reception to follow. Daniel will be interred in the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church in his honor. Those who knew Daniel William Marschke will remember him for his steady presence, his love for family, his deep faith, and the joy he found in sharing stories, laughter, and time outdoors with the people he loved most.
